If you’ve read my “Best Pool Pumps” article, you already know this one is my top pick. The IntelliFlo3 VSF (011066) gives you the quiet, efficient power of a top-tier variable-speed pump—without the typical sticker shock.
This thing automatically adjusts flow based on your pool’s needs, so if you have an older pool with smaller pipes, it wont cavitate, also, you’re not wasting electricity or money. It’s built solid, runs whisper-quiet, and has a clean, simple interface that doesn’t make you feel like you need a computer science degree to use it. I like that Pentair finally made a smart pump that doesn’t cost as much as some of the bigger 3-HP energy hogs, but still delivers real energy savings you can see on your next energy bill.
Did I mention this pump has Bluetooth and WIFI or that it is super easy to program? This eliminates the need for an electrician to wire in a pool timer.
Call Me Crazy
I recommend this pump for most high-end above-ground and semi-in-ground pool set-ups—especially the Aquasport 52 and Fox Ultimate Pools —it’s more pump than you’ll ever need, but at a price that makes sense. You get a built-in relay board to run other pool gear like the oxygen pools system (hint hint).
Caveat* If you have an above ground filter, remember those are designed for only 30 gallons per minute, and this pump puts out 80 gallons per minute, so never run it on high!
If you want a long-lasting, energy-saving pump that won’t break the bank, this is the one I recommend most.
All controls can be managed at the pump or on your smart phone/device. What is really cool is that you can control another device/accessory with the same smart device. It has a relay so you can control your heater or lights right from your cell phone. Pentair keeps pushing the bar, building on a great chassis with tons of control and innovation consumers love.
